Searching For You... Poem by Rey Sanidad

Searching For You...

I searched for you all my life,
And when I found you there trouble came to me.
It seemed my blood escaped my life, ran back from me
And my heart slipped into you.

It seems, that you are the moon and that,
I am at the top of a tree reaching out for you.
A dream, I find, sweet illusions,
One smile of friendship, not, of cold esteem,
Far dearer were than passion's mild deceit!

Your heart was mine, I once believed.
Ah! shall I say that all your vows were air?
And must I say, my hopes were all deceived?
It's a pity, pity that makes you kind,
You know I love, and you would seem to feel.

If I had wings, will I spread them as far as you,
A joy in which affection takes no part?
Though the kisses of the holy bird knock at your petal door?
No, no, You gave me but your charms,
When I had fondly thought you gave your heart.
