Second Chances Are Nice

Memories from the past tend to haunt the living
Until the day we leave this world

But since it happens so seldom, we rarely notice,
That happiness is within our reach

Yet to some, it seems as if the past must follow us
Into eternity, or at least until we find peace

And even though our feelings of peace may be fleeting,
Those few precious moments of harmony will sustain us

But the trust must be there before we decide to go
Bravely forward since we fear of being hurt once again

Of course if we care deeply enough for another person then
Those tender moments might just change us for the better

And yet, those previous mishaps will sometimes color our
Thoughts even before we decide to take a chance on love


It's been said, however, that the miracle of chance really
Does favor those who are willing to give their all

And so marked by lust and daring,
It was manifest to the world-

That the reward for his bravery
