We love to seek out secrets - witness history;
there's nothing that appeals quite like a mystery: -
the secrets of the atom, the secrets of the stars,
the secrets of canals we once believed we'd found on Mars.
The secret of eternal life; eternal youth as well;
the secrets of the Holy Grail, so many failed to tell.
The secrets of conspiracies by esoteric sects;
the secret sins of bishops, politicians and the rest,
Triangles in Bermuda and monsters in Loch Ness.
The secrets of the Pyramids are anybody's guess.
UFOs and ESP;
Yetis that we never see,
secret lovers, secret trysts,
secret plots with secret lists.
Who killed those poor young princes in the tower?
Which wicked villain had them in his power?
Arcane bloodlines leading back to Jesus.
Such subtle suppositions always please us.
Masonic machination that allows us
to speculate about their rolled-up trousers.
Which Lodge had Jack the Ripper as a member?
and in that 19th century December,
when they found Marie Celeste - had been forsaken,
we could wonder if the crew had all been taken
by aliens, who came in flying saucers,
or been eaten by exotic ocean monsters.
What happened to Lord Lucan and
who stole Shergar away?
And was there someone shooting from the grassy knoll that day?
Did Alchemists discover how to make gold out of lead?
And did Atlantis really disappear the way they said?
Who built Stonehenge and why? Nobody knows!
And, however did they bring gigantic stones
To Salisbury Plain from Wales, without the wheel?
And were King Arthur or his knights for real?
That little peasant girl called Bernadette,
who claimed she had a vision, where she met
the Virgin Mary loitering in Lourdes,
from what official history records.
But what exactly was it that occurred?
The Vatican will have the final word.
The riddle of the empty tomb,
enigma of the virgin womb
and what came first - the chicken or the egg?

How did life begin? That's if it did,
And where was Blackbeard's treasure really hid?

He explained the past and told of future acts
and with his quill inscribed a list of facts.
