Serenade - Poem by Matthew Edward Peterson

the only song i've ever known
and ever care to hear

is that of a sweet lady
whispering in my ear

i will sing to you
(behind the tree)
for you at your window

calling your name with melody
calling your name by choice

my voice

shall reach through the meadow of your mind
(and you are mine)
and pierce your heart of gold

and if you wish
a tone
shall call back to me

harmonizing our fate
creating symphonic adieu
to the people we once knew

sealing our love
once was
with the melody
that brought me to you
