LUST
Lust
is just
the drive I must
have that or bust,
and find my face thrust
in the dust.
GREED
Greed is need.
But such a creed
is guaranteed
to sow the seed
and slowly breed
resentment that will surely lead
to vengeful deeds
that make you bleed.
PRIDE
Pride will hide
the fear inside;
the tears you cried,
will not confide.
We all have lied
for foolish pride;
the weakness that must be denied.
For fear of letting down the side,
it was for pride,
so many died.
RAGE (ANGER)
Who can gauge
the pow'r of rage
to split the cage
and so upstage
this venal age
as we engage
in battle for a living wage?
SLOTH
Sloth
is loath
to foster growth
or industry - it swore an oath
to forgo both.
But, since it's life is one long loaf,
it's carbon footprint scarcely shows.
SPITE (ENVY)
Spite
is quite
a nasty blight.
Born out of fright
and lack of might.
A hopeless plight -
no joy in sight.
We must fight
to put it right
and bring delight
to blunt its bite.
VORACITY (GLUTTONY)
The monstrous incapacity
of the error of voracity,
the lack of that sagacity
that measures its capacity
to stuff itself with grub and see
how big and bloated it can be,
may not be mere venality,
but the virtue of tenacity,
asign of its audacity,
in striving for veracity-
just grabbing straws when lost at sea
to stay afloat eternally.
