Not all black only means sadness;
for there is a dark one that brings me happiness.

Not all fading only gives you wrinkles;
for it can make your eyes sparkle.

Under the sun, you were beneath my toes;
with every step of mine, you would applaud.

Under the moon, you were at my back,
protecting me when back-biters attack.

You always helped me with my preparation,
making sure that I'd arrive at the right passion.

Yes, you are the best shadow guiding my way,
and definitely the reason why I got an A.
