Shadowed Poem by Jewell Miller

Shadowed

Deeper than the sea
That has no sounding,
Softer than the hush
That comes when all is over,
Silent as the feet that seek
And find no grounding ...
So does the shadow fall.

Stronger than the thing
It takes - enduring;
Greater than the force
Of war, or life, or lover,
Shadow of our years ... to your
Unplumbed obscuring
Do we consign our all.
