She is a morning girl
Grappling with breakfast
Fruit, tea and the rind
Of broken sleep
She wants to break a tree
She sits at a kitchen table
Breaking into God's head
Disturbing saucer and cup
Outside, beyond a window pane
Busy trees sway, unaware
She wants to break one
She breaks an egg-shell
Hard boiled, resisting first
Crack, then breaking beneath
Her continued tapping
She breaks a plate
Her promises to a cat
Her bracelet rings glasses
She breaks a clock's stare
She wants to break a tree
