She'll Find You Poem by Yohan Confectioner

She'll Find You

She'll find you,
Your home
Your car
Your job

She'll feel safe
In the idea
Of you being settled

Your social status
Your peers approval
Your ambitions
Your achievements
Your goals

You made it

You fix things
The fridge
The tv
The washer
You're handy that way
Your hands feel safe

You know where to get away
She'll follow
Your idea of peace
Of togetherness

But has she seen
the trauma
The wounds
Fresh but
Covered by the flesh
Your desires
Deep and dark
Mostly desolate
Ashamed to find its way
To the surface
The guilt
Of your pleasures
Or the lack of it

Your lowest points
Your gut—
Wrenching
Longing
Twisting
Turning
Has she been to the pits
Of your soul
The fire
The fire that burns somewhere
Too deep within
To see the smoke arise

She'll take your hand
Your handy hand
But will she take your soul
The weight of what isn't,
Of what could never be.
