Shining Star Poem by Elle Lazarus

One day, I'll wish upon a star.
The star that never belonged there.
It was her gazing at me from afar.
I was under her light and her care.

I wish I could sprout wings
just to fly to that shining star.
But sometimes, these are things
that you cant reach because they are too far.

So I would wish I could become a star.
just to be next to her until stars don't shine.
I wished with all of my heart,
but I couldn't see any sign.

So one day I will wish upon that star,
to soar to the heavens and see her there.
Yet, I am on land, gazing at her from afar.
I am next to the sea, thinking about how its unfair.

Someday I will get to that shining star,
but not now, not soon.
Someday I wont be so afar,
Because I'll be the moon.
