Shy Rain Poem by Aluko Oluwaremilekun Tosin

Shy Rain

Why so shy
Like a virgin on her wedding night
Your absence being sorely felt
Deed last annuel is history
A new story I need
You have gone the year before
And now you sneak up on me
In the midnight with small drops
I awake but you are gone
Only to see small and wet kisses on the parched earth
Why so shy
I feel your rumble in the sky
Why so shy of falling?
The fiery master of the day?
The gentle mistress in the night?
Tell me and will I plead to the Createur
Or people's mixed reaction?
Don't worry, human nature it is
One man's food is poison for other
Why so shy
All I seek is your torrent
of kisses to quench my thirsty heart, give me relief
from that fiery master of the day
and aid the gentle mistess to keep
me company in the night
Come not with destruction, confusion, agony or mud
but with joy, peace, bountiful
harvest and fresh air
Come Rain, don't be shy.
