Somehow you found your way
To the sign of the times and you
And I were friends playing
When the storm came and you
Clung to the roots of the tree and
What were we supposed to do
We had never faced something like
This before, so we looked out for
Each, as the times revealed the
That that you slowly saw, slow
But sure, acclimatising to it all
We were military in a way we
Had been at each other's throats
And all, all before the dawning
Truth settling the score once and
For all, you watched the true
Surveillance of civilians and Hitler's
Swastika a misrepresentation
Of a Buddhist symbol, slapped onto
The clock torn away to reveal the truth.
Somehow you marched to your own heart's
Call, that sea you were in made you a soldier
Cheered on in camaraderie and had braved
The storm it wasn't always so bad in time
The worst of our struggles over and there'll
Be time to reflect over the story told
You will catch up do you read me between
Reports and the settling of scores
Was it really just your zealotry
At war on the receiving end of the law
We all have had to play our parts
Friends, professionals and soldiers
Were we criminals all lined in a dock
Or were we seafarers anchored and away
On our holidays we signaled our way to you
Seeing the light glimmer on the horizon
Our views broader was not the Bible a testament?
Our hearts were the same and our hearts
Were different, our own, of each others, elsewhere?
