Simply Forgotten Poem by Alejandro Torres

Simply Forgotten

I sit
In the middle of a bench
And watch the people pass me by
No one meets my eyes
No one stops to say hi
There’s a field of pain
In just one glance of mine
To stop the world from spinning
So I close my lids tight
And turn my face towards the sun
Hoping against the ache in my soul
That the warmth will make it through
To the bone
But she’s erased me from history
And I still feel cold
I sit and spring passes me by
Cant help but think of her
Tossing sandy blonde locks
From mischievous eyes
She started a fire beneath my heart
And when she had her fun
Liquid nitrogen on a subtle blaze
Like it was a forest fire
And she had a bucket of water
Then I was gone
The flavor of the year
She’s already forgotten
Erasing me
With every step she took out the door
Like a flower plucked to early
Quickly thrown between words
And pages
Like yesterdays news
Simply forgotten
