Sincerely Superstitious Poem by Maguna Lokark

Sincerely Superstitious

Rating: 5.0

Cornered by priests
threatened with curses
she was to fight alone
Against men possessed by verses.

She argued with logic
They retorted with superstition.
She quoted agonies of people
They quoted a spirit's prediction.

'The widow stares out the window
Plagued in a white attire,
Her head shaven clean,
As she prepares to jump on the pyre.
This is wrong, " she claims,
"a wrong practice it is sire.
As this woman, weeping in grief,
has in her life, more to transpire."
They say, " But we can't stop it.
It is His desire
That this woman
Be lit on fire."

'He shall not
Sit beside him
As his religion
Doesn't sing his hymn.
This is wrong, ' she states,
"A wrong thing it is to trim
Those who sing but not rhyme
With the other pilgrim."
They retort, " But we can't stop it.
It is His whim
To keep some
And some to skim."

"Some you mus not touch
Or condemned you too will be
As that man, shabbily dressed
Will never let your soul be free.
This is wrong, " she notes,
"A wrong thing it is to assume and foresee
The fate of others in your palm
And declare them demon's escapee."
They reply, " But we can't stop it.
As through His eye He does see
This man's morale's
Desire to flee."

"Wars waged
In his name
Men became beasts
Impossible to tame.
This is wrong, 'she tells
"Wrong it id to aim
At the innocent, not guilty
Of the accused blame."
They spoke, " But we can't stop it.
He's the master of the game.
Hence, who is killed, who is not
Isn't in our hands, dear dame."

"The poor may not have
Anything to lay at His feet.
Thus, they cant enter
His earthly abode of concrete.
This is wrong, ' she expresses,
"Wrong it is to mistreat
Those who can't afford to offer
Possessions to you, the indiscreet! "
They snapped, " But we can't stop it.
It is His will to deny to greet
Or bless them
With the ability to replete."

"All this is wrong,
Your conscience knows it too.
You just aren't brave enough to see
What is false, what is true.
Isn't this wrong? " she questions,
"Wrong is it not to be a slave to
The one you have not seen nor heard
Give commands for you to pursue? "
They shouted in anger, " But He can't stop it,
What we do..
It is our will that these superstitions
Do continue! "
