POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Thirty six years ago, Sister Joan Sawyer, Missionary Sister of Saint Columban, from Antrim, Ireland, visited the prisoners in prison in Peru. Suddenly gun shots wereheard and Sister Joan Sawyer was fatally wounded. Sister Joan had laid down her life for the love, faith, hope, light and life of the People she had come to serve on MISSION.
