Slumber Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Slumber

Your eyelids felt heavy, you said
I already miss you more than anything
Even if you refused to head to bed
I whispered into your ear
All the things you wanted to hear
All the things I wanted to say
Until you finally agreed
To defect to the hands of Slumber

I promise you, my dear knight
I wouldn't leave your side
Like the wind in your curtains
My love will keep you cool
Like the blankets on your bed
I will keep and cradle you to safety
See you in the morning darling
‘Til then and always, I love you more
