Snoring Poem by Robyn Chiswell

Snoring

Of all the sounds that our bodies make
Erupting out from the moment we wake
The classic burp, which can be seen as rude
But it's our stomach crying that it's full of food
Everyone happily admits to smelly farts
(Someone once told me they're full of poo parts)
There's no shame in a tummy rumble, they make us grin
'Oops, that was me, that grumble from within'
We say 'bless you' for sneezes because they're cute
Even though green snot is flying down the chute
A question, which puzzles me more and more
Is why people are so against the snore
The offenders themselves will forever deny
That they made that awful sound, it must be a lie
When in truth they've been juddering like an old rusty car
One which could be heard from near and afar
Whilst the person they sleep with is wide awake
Wishing and begging that the sound would take a break
But they'd daren't wake them up and cause offence
So instead they just lay there and use pillows as defence
