Snuffed Out Poem by Matthew Foor

Snuffed Out

Restrictions and medications
Prescriptions for imaginations
A heavy toll on creativity
Like catching a fly mid air
With chopsticks
Inconceivable
My mind floats away at times
Seemingly impossible to catch up to it
So close
But no cigar
Like trying to catch smoke
When a candle is snuffed out
Wishing you could kick-start the right side
Of your brain
In hopes you'll start writing again
Force a square peg into a round hole
Just won't work

Sitting
Ears grabbing the ticking of the clock
All it does is mock
Me
That damn clock
Tick tock, tick tock
Teasing me with every stroke
Time passes at a snail's pace
But I guess it irrelevant in this case
Battering my brain
Wake up!
Wake up!
