Soli Deo Gloria Poem by Isadora Quagmire

Soli Deo Gloria

Oh Lord Christ my King Above,
Thou for me took every strike
Though spotless lamb of pure love
Thou were doomed to for wretches die!

For me thou suffered bitter wrath
Meant not for thee but for me!
Thou opened to heaven a path
By thine own true righteousness!

All glory be to Christ who died for me!
He hath broke asund'r the chain
And set the prisoner free!
For me He sinless was shamed.

By no act of mine own hand
Could I deliver my soul from hell,
But by his blood justified I stand,
For he has broken death's spell!

Alone, torment'd did he die
By His Father's perfect will,
Afflicted, betrayed and crucified
So that Heaven could with delivered fill!

His love does not ever fail,
His Kingdom's reign hath no end!
He shall ever over his foes prevail
And this grim world will He mend!

What can I say, but praise to thee!
For thou liv'd to die for worthless sinners!
All Glory unto thee forever be!
Forever and ever, for all eternity!

Soli Deo Gloria
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Dear reader, for you did Christ die. He did not remain dead, but He rose again. He loves you and knows your name. If you have not put your trust in Him, I implore you to do so—it is the best decision you will ever make. Your sins shall be forgiven. For in Him there is mercy greater than all our failures and grace deeper than all our need. He does not call the perfect, but those who are willing to come as they are—broken, searching, and in need of hope. Turn to Him with a sincere heart, and you will find peace that the world cannot give, and life that does not fade. Even now, He stands ready to receive you, to forgive you, and to make you new.
