SOMETHING I LOOK AT-367
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
For a while, I dwelled in your mind,
Perhaps in your love, your heart aligned.
Is it not enough for one like me,
A soul adrift, with no identity?
I admit, I deserve not your care,
Not even a fraction of love to spare.
Yet, neither your hatred nor cold disdain,
For both would deepen my endless pain.
Never once was I indifferent to you,
In my heart, your essence grew.
You lived in my thoughts, my joy, my strife,
Not a moment apart from your tears and life.
If you stepped into my weary place,
You'd understand this tangled space.
I've seen your tears, your silent cries,
But have you ever seen mine in my eyes?
My sorrow's weight, so heavy, profound,
Like a caged bird with skies around.
It sees the blue, the freedom above,
Yet cannot reach, despite its love.
My love is pure, as true as yours,
My tears, like waves, crash distant shores.
I've held your pain, your trials, your fears,
Yet you've not felt the ocean of my tears.
Love me not, but I beg you this:
Don't turn away; don't dismiss.
Your indifference wounds more than hate,
For it locks me in this lonely state.
