Something I Look At-389

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-389
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

My love,
open the door
I have been standing in front for so long.
You do not see me,
do not see the tears rolling down my cheeks
for you have not opened the gate long since.

Please open the door
at least for once.
You will see a shadow of my old self, a garden withered by summer's heat and winter's relentless rain.
Look at me,
see how I crumble in your absence.

You know
My love is as pure as liquid crystal, as serene as a flowing Ganga.
What I crave is only a glimpse of you, a few words regarding how you are.
I am deprived of the only thing
I lovingly cherish, a smile of yours, that gives meaning to my life

My love,
do not let my final years
become a poignant tragedy, a tale of unending sorrow.
Let me leave this world
with the warmth of your smile,
with a heart full, not broken

I know where I stand—
outside your palace,
always outside.
Just open the window,
let our eyes meet once more.
Let my heart whisper its tale—
a burnt garden,
once paradise.

Hope you will listen to the beats of a melancholic heart,
read the language of a pair of teary eyes before the old man leaves this beautiful world of yours
