SOMETHING I LOOK AT-41
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
Paths are many,
goal is one,
maximum of pleasure
and a minimum of pain.
Pain and pleasure,
happiness and sorrow,
enlightenment, illusion and the mundane,
their assessment and anticipation,
drive one to action,
to choose a path,
that promises more pleasure,
more happiness than
pain and sorrow.
One looks at
his likes and dislikes,
rationally calculates the means
at his disposal,
gives everything he has
to have a go at
what he desires.
Choosing a path is not easy,
it drives one crazy.
Sometimes pain is hidden in pleasure
pleasure in pain,
sorrow in happiness and
happiness in sorrow,
that puts one
the wrong way.
Choosing a path,
one has to be careful,
he has to know himself,
his real interest,
the ability to sustain it
over a period of time
to give meaning and substance
to what he fancies.
Choosing a wrong path
may land you in a pool of sorrow.
It is not so easy to change direction
in the game of life and
make it once more.
