Something I Look At-470

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-470
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

You reside
deep inside my heart.
Every beat of it speaks your name.
Every pause takes me to the Garden of Eden,
where I silently bow before your matchless grace.

And there, even silence seems to bloom with your presence.

What a bitter irony it is—
I am yet to meet you,
yet to see the princess of my heart.
When I ache to have a glimpse of you,
I travel within, talk to your shadow,
and fall in love with it—
not the way it is understood,
but the way I mean it.

For some loves are meant to be felt before they are seen.

My love is selfless,
beyond fancies and desires.
It is for you and you only.
Each drop of my blood carries
your signature.
Each breath of mine wishes
a better tomorrow for you,
a tomorrow where I may not be,
but all my feelings and emotions certainly will be.

They will be.
They will be.

Before I leave,
I want to see you once,
see what and how my love and life truly is.
I hope you will grace me once
with your filigree smile;
I need nothing more to complete me.

A single smile can sometimes fulfil a lifetime of waiting.

I will carry that beautiful smile with me
to the other side,
where memory ends, but love does not.
