Sometimes Poem by Richmal Byrne

Sometimes

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes I wake when dark is fading pale,
And all the world seems gathered in my head,
Billions jostle solely to tell a tale,
Or bring their denigration to my bed,
To sleep, to dream, to classify the cares,
Homogenize some just and easy truth,
Or split the nerve with chronicles that wear,
And tear a craven cleft within the soul,
If fear transpires, oppression comes to pass,
What’s true? What’s of me - of my parts?
I neither rise to speak the vital verse,
Nor plead around the pity of their hearts.
