Sometimes I wonder,
am I the only one with secrets?
the only one who sees things differently.
Are there others too,
waiting for permission to speak out?
tongue tied by some nameless inhibition.
And if one of us
should one day hold forth and make it known,
would the rest take courage and endorse him?
Can I be alone?
when everyone will be required
to play their special part in her great plan.
How many are there
keeping their own counsel while they wait?
asking if it's all imagination?
wond'ring if they're mad -
victims of a too enquiring mind
who found more answers than they'd bargained for.
How many hidden
gnostics wait in silent impatience
to speak the truths that were so sorely won?
Isolated minds -
sealed by the unknowability
of other men that dare not share their thoughts.
