Somewhere On A Rainy Day Poem by Alan Buckholtz

Somewhere On A Rainy Day

Weather's wrath in ominous gray
reveries in shadows
darkened pathways
from departed days

Sprinkles tease
head and shoulders...
the tears of the world
flood of the face of the city

My parched heart
drenched by a torrent...
swimming in memories
as I enter my homeless house

A rainy day somewhere...
rooftop patter
echoing dances
danced before

The wavering blush of a fireplace
crackles with the promise
that its glorious glow
will nourish time for lovers

Embers of images
persevere as
smoldering sensations
wait to rekindle...

Listening to yesterdays,
wrapped in the remembrance
of rooted embrace
pondering tomorrows

Grateful to have been with someone
hoping to be with someone
not just anyone
...somewhere on a rainy day
