Sonet - Poem by Christian Richardt

For Maalets, Grænsens Lov Du vil Dig spare:
det sandsesløst Bersærkerske, Balstyriske,
det kalder Du det folkelige Lyriske,
og hint en græsk, en importeret Vare.

Lidt lavere endnu, min Ven! Bliv bare
hin Hersker lig — den babylonsk-assyriske —
der sank til det Umiddelbare-Dyriske,
brøl op — og tusind Oxer vil Dig svare.

Hvi skal for Mennesket en Stud da vige?
Aristokraten kun slig Forskjel ænser,
vi bør til de Umælende nedstige!

Ja, vedgaa kjæk din Stræbens Konsekvenser:
at Mennesker og Dyr skal vorde lige:
de har jo fælles bæstiske Tendenser.
