Song Of Thanksgiving Poem by Mary Naylor

Song Of Thanksgiving

Rating: 5.0

Light the candles on the table,
And let the feast bask in the glow,
Like the Baby in the stable
Was lit by starlight so long ago.

Gather all the little ones,
Safe and warm by the crackling fire,
As The Shepard told His flock, 'Come, '
And sheltered them from dangers dire.

Kings should wear precious jewels and furs,
Kings should dine on pheasants and rare wine.
Our King wore a crown of thorns and burs.
Vinegar was His drink from the vine.

Hear our song of Thanksgiving, Lord,
As we praise Thy Holy Name.
At this table You are adored,
And our faith leaps like candle flames!

A lyric poem worthy of the name. Your last line is simply superb. Only a living faith could leap like a candle flame. Applause for you. Love, SandraX
