Sonnet I: Defiant Of God In Femininity Poem by Silas Rosalie Dumont

Sonnet I: Defiant Of God In Femininity

By Eve the Garden overthrown was kill'd
Though ‘twas Adam who truly did destroy
But since from hence Eve's womb life be trill'd
This tale thus used ‘gainst feminine, a ploy
And now our sinful persons doth delight
In the affections which doth glow within
Messenger-birds, o'erhead do they alight
Upon our gloriously female sin
As two young persons both of male descent
Playful, revel in Helios' burning light
The peace of God which doth surpass it all
Simply cannot banish this passion's might
Thus that God must accept the feminine
For when it be right, it cannot be sin
