Sorrow Poem by Shelby L

Sorrow

Screaming is coming from all around,
A solider slides in a ditch on the ground.
Cold a damp not knowing what to do.
Knowing in his heart he may not get to see his little girl grow up,
For he is the last one on the line that is still breathing.
He preys for his family and that of the others,
Waiting for the next bullet to end the game.
For thats all war reallly is,
A game for the kings and leaders of everywhere.
The people are just pawns in the matter,
To achive the goal.
The leaders and kings don't really care,
As long as they get there prize in the end.

But on this day there isn't just this man in the ditch,
A little further down the line is another.
They see each other and band togeather.
Checking one more time to make sure there arn't anyothers,
They run and hide taking there leave.
There will to see there family and friends,
Is what carries these two on.
They make it to there base where everyone is amazed,
They weren't expecting two rookies to return in this game.

That solider got to see his little girl grow up.
But not everyone has a happy ending like this guy.
For you all know that many each day die,
Leaving behind a family and kids.
Wifes in sorrow and kids in pain,
Knowing there dad was hero,
But not coming home ever again.
War is just like to chess to many leaders,
Or so I believe.
They don't care who they sacrifice,
As long as they get that prize.
Thats when its all worth while.
