Southern Flight Poem by Paula Norberg

Southern Flight

Why do some birds
Take southern flight?
To escape the cold
And wintry night.

Birds don't have coats
Of fur like kittens.
With feathered wings,
They can't wear mittens.

Birds live in trees
And grasp the branches
With scrawny feet.
So what's the chances

They'd be wearing
Boots or shoes?
A sight that's likely
To amuse.

They flock together
And off they go,
Perfectly timing
To miss the snow.
