Sparrow Poem by Joan Xie

Sparrow

How do I know they are all blind
‘Cause I have been
hopping here
many days many years.

Left to right I cracked all shadows
To and fro I weaved many lights into a net
I pecked clean of the winding path
even echo was well up
to the city skyline silhouette

No one noticed
an albino sparrow as white as a pearl

No one noticed me

They mortgaged the vision for future use
but who is there to check
a round plastic ticket
and give their eyeballs back
Will anyone regain his sight will one

Will one at least pause
google why a sparrow as white as a pearl.
