Sphinx Poem by Vincent Cleghorne

Sphinx

Sphinx
If ever you meet one then never forget,
A sphynx is like no other creature you've met.
It isn't a lion astray from its pride.
It isn't a bird, though it's wings open wide.
It isn't a human, but smiles from a face
That's more human than all in the whole human race.
A sphinx cannot speak, and instead makes a sound,
Like the purr of a cat, from which soft words abound.
A sphinx sometimes climbs in a basket to rest,
But a branch in the treetops is where it sleeps best.
A sphinx enjoys cuddles, a toy and a treat,
And at bedtime will fight the great fight with your feet.
A sphynx, like a cat or a dog, is your friend,
That will love you no matter, through day and nights end.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written for little children who have never heard of a Sphinx, this fun little rhyme will delight kids and adults too. I will be illustrating this and turning it into a picture book.
