Spoken Words. Poem by Mike Berriman

Spoken Words.

Words command and compel
Cajole and criticise
Words cannot be recalled
But they are remembered
A spoken word is powerful
Unspoken words are loud
Misspelt words are benign
We laugh at spoken errors
Because it is not our mistake
We compose our words
For comprehension
Words and volume sup together
Sometimes our words dance
Across the airwaves
They are a joy to behold
Refreshing our lives
Sweet words that encourage
Motivate masses
Lead soldiers to victory
Some of us chew words
Embarrassed at meanings
Ignorant of pronunciation
Wordsmiths delight in wordplay
Toastmasters revel in the art
Babies do not understand words
Only a loving mothers cadence
Later they understand
Children use words to cajole and compel
And so it grows.
