Stand Tall Poem by S.M. Riggin

Stand Tall

High school crowds talk and murmur
looking at you the wrong way
and talking about you when
your not around

Rumors fly about that boy or that night
you knowing nothing happened
but do they believe you
when its easier to keep talking?

Being in hallways where
everyone from freshmen to seniors
stare at you and won't believe truth,
holding tears in you run to be hidden.

As you look at the make-up running down your
face and hair messed that took all morning.
is it worth it to let those people get to you?
grafeti covers the wall then you see.

You need to stand tall,
hold you head high
cause if you dont they will get what they want
theres no need for that,
smile they'll stop.
Stand tall, be strong.

Relief washes over you,
the pain numbs a bit
someone out there has been through it
and made it.

You hold your head high
and stand a little taller.
