Star Crossed Poem by careema cooper

Star Crossed

People try to tell me what I don't hear
They try to show me what I don't see
What they don't seem to understand
Is that you mean the world to me.
People look at you and judge
And they don't even know your name
They ask 'what happens when you get hurt? '
I say 'I won't, he's not the same'...
I told him from the start
I said 'my strength, my will, my might'...
He's the one that owns my heart.
Through darkness he's my light.
But I'm afraid to sleep tonight
Though you are the guy of my dreams
The sky might strike my mind with thunder
And end sweet thoughts in screams.
The sky might seperate our hearts
And one thing I'm afraid to say
Because fate says you can't love me
And I'm afraid you will go away.
I told god not to take my angel
I believe your a gift from above
And if it's true you were heaven sent to me
Why are the stars against our love?
I say the stars shall not chose our fate
It shall no cross out our desires
When we're hit with cold winds and rain,
We must protect our burning fire...
