Staring Thru The Kaleidoscope Poem by William Ryan

Staring Thru The Kaleidoscope

Looking at life through a kaleidoscope
Born in a time of love and free flowing dope
Just wanting to live life completely free
Not needing the government controlling me
In a time when we made our own choice
And our opinion's we weren't afraid to voice
We'd gather at their meeting place
Letting them know we felt it a disgrace
not a bit happy with what they decided to do
Without even asking me or you
Now they try to keep this era forgotten
Telling us about a generation that was rotten
Today we sometimes still complain
But from throwing it in their face we need to restrain
The new laws go on to the books
for their real reason does anyone look
Are they so ourselves we won't neglect
Or just another way for them to get a check
If the whole world they offer to send some aid
Yet to help our own the bill can't be paid
Some things just seem so out of whack
How about the other countries that they attack
And are they terrorist because in us they don't believe
What about the holes in other countries that we leave
It all about a life that they will make better
As long as you follow their rules to the letter
They seem to get rich while we all stay poor
Why do we put up with this and even more
Life could be worse this is surely true
But think for once how their choices are now effecting you
The pull out your paper and pen
You may only be one but that's where things begin
Write the one you voted for
Just tell them we're not going to take it anymore!
