Starlight Poem by Ramon Josue

Starlight

Under the cloak of night, you arrived quietly,
Slipping into my heart's serenity.
And gently, you sought to break down the walls of me.
Forging a connection like the river to the sea,
The darkness to oblivion.
'What have you done to me? '

I wondered, awestruck by the radiance of you;
A fantasy that seemed too surreal to be true.
The lines between reality and fantasy blurred;
We kept our connection like cloak-and-dagger.

But the more I fell for you, the more I feared the fear of my fears,
Spiraling into depths of emotion, fragile to the world's sears.
Yet, it persisted, even as it became a fortress of torment, Chipping away at my will to surmount my predicament.

But it must end!
For what never truly began cannot be sustained.
You were the one I wanted to love, yet the one I couldn't.
The irony of love was not lost on me.

And yet, I hold on to the belief that everything happens for a reason;
That someone out there is ready and waiting for me.
In the end, when the dream dissipates,
I'll be grateful for the journey and the lessons learned in the midst of the sea.
