Stay Close, You Drive Away The Ghouls Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Stay Close, You Drive Away The Ghouls

It is a distraction, perhaps a wonder too
Why a sudden beating within, I think it’s colour blue,
Has decided to perturb my drowsy senses
Just as I’m about to take to the bed, minus the visions

Am I being stifled by someone I cannot see
Or has my sanity lost its leash, caressing freely
At the neck and wrist of what I was running from
The sadness and doubt that wandered to me at dawn

I seek help, even if it’s in the form of chocolate
I would grab at it, dive even, just to divert from this fate
Don’t leave me alone in this fat, loose jacket, I beg
Stay close; You drive away the ghouls that were painted red
