Still



For a long time I waited motionless
Holding
Being still
Almost breathless
More than reluctant
To disturb something so newly begun
Where you held me hostage
To your desire
Where I am trapped
In the heart of you
Can you feel me inside?
I have not crawled
Nor crept up
Into your sanctuary
But hold my head up
A proud captive
Proud to fill your temple
With my ancient rhythm
The music of my heart
I strain
But not to be free
My blood rushing
So close to your blood
That primal thoughts are shared
Can you feel me inside?
There is something that moves us
When we are still
Within each other
When your hand is mine
Your breath
Mine
Our hearts sing one song
Through this single instrument
With its two minds
Resonant
In harmony with the choirs
Of the senses
And when at last
We are moved to feel
Our us
Our oneness
The spirit descends to the earth
And the earth is exhalted
And love
Is
