Still In Your Cradle Poem by Ibrahim Sambo

Still In Your Cradle

Whip me with your love
Oh mother
Engrave more of you
In my mind
With your smiles
With your cuddles
With your soft ingraining words
Enfold me in your warmth
Fondle me in your tender bossom
With your fiery Fulbe blood
Toughen me
Against the cold and bitter world
Steaming and groaning yonder
Give me the Futa spirit
With which you took
The plains and shores of the Niger
Give me the metier
To shoot and trickle
Like the star of bethlehem
Oh mother
True woman of Africa
Forget not, as your child
I remain forever, in your cradle
To love and be loved
By you.
