Stone Cold Heart Poem by Anthony Raymond

Stone Cold Heart

The message on the stone cold heart read
Do not enter; go away, my life is going well
No need to try and put me under your spell
Please, just leave, everything is ok, have a nice day
Stop knocking on my door, stop ringing in my head
You have better things to do, is how the message read
Ok my child, that's fine, remember, you're still mine
Some time later he passed by to give it another try
The message on the stone cold broken heart read
Enter at your own risk, better for you to just pass by
There's no heart here anymore for you to occupy
It's no longer beating, unsound, hell bound,
Look instead for it in the lost and found
The years passed have taken a heavy toll
The person you are searching for is a lost soul
All that remains is this stone cold broken heart
If you have any sense at all you will quickly depart
Oh my child, when you told me not to enter, to leave and go away
Everything was going well, just leave, have a nice day
I removed the heart I gave to you, only for a while
You replaced it with a stone cold heart like many an infantile
Now your empty dreams have faded, and your passions gone awry
I decided the time was ripe for a hardened heart modify
Softened with my love I have transformed your heart anew
Chiseled away the hardness allowing my love to flow through
I paid the price for lost souls and hearts in disarray
Remember that I love you and I am with you night and day
