Stop Shouting Poem by Alexander Downie

Stop Shouting

I shouted at you to stop, and whispered I love you,
I screamed at you to remember, and cried when you failed
I roared for remorse, and believed you would change
I howled at heartless acts, and still stayed loyal and true

I screeched at injustice, and looked for a reason for the pain
I bellowed at beastly attacks, and tended to the wounds alone
I barked at the insane Turkish moon, and whimpered in an empty house
I cried a thousand tears, and the volume was never right
