Stranger Or Danger? Poem by trina johnson

Stranger Or Danger?

Everday I wonder,
Do people notice strangers?
I don't really think so,
But do they notice dangers?

Or in a sense,
Are they the same?
The same thing
Under a different name?

Are strangers and dangers
Similar to what I see?
Or does it explain
Why everyone avoids me?

I could seem strange
If you don't know me.
But look a bit closer
To things you've never seen...

You will see a girl in pain,
One with little pride.
No more faith in hope,
Tears swimming in my eyes.

YOu will see a girl unloved
Never wanting to go home.
Haunted by night terrors
Fighting them alone.

A girl with few friends,
Never being missed.
The one who cries every night-
Cuts covering both wrists.

Peer even closer
Maybe you will see
They all glared today
Conveying they hate me.

If you really knew me
I wouldn't be a stranger.
If you paid attention...
I'm not a danger.
