Submerged In Literature Poem by B. V. Dahlen

Submerged In Literature

I feel the need to find a spot
and quietly retreat,
far from demands that weary me,
away from all the heat.

I have a buoyant lounge chair
that floats across my pool,
and with an icy glass of tea
I seek this spot so cool.

I take a favorite friend along
to keep me company,
and bob in blissful coolness
turning pages carefully.

This year I'm enjoying
the company of one
who has before spent summer days
floating with me in the sun,

This old friend who brings peace and calm
those very things I need.
This gift that Rummer Godden penned
is 'In This House Of Brede'.
