Sun Poem by Rita Cerniglia

Sun

Cast your shadows
warm your wheat
grow your blossoms bright

Wake your children
thaw your lakes
chase away the night

Disburse your storms
ripen your vines
where darkness looms - give light

Beckon all birds
with wordless words
until they take to flight

Then bake the earth
inside and out.
Melt all the snow caps white

Heat the waves
and deepest caves
not any crevice slight

Then turn your back
let all go black
'Sleep tight, ' good Sun, 'Sleep tight.'
