Sunflowers Poem by Paul G. Kallen

Sunflowers

To Judy, my dear everyday hero

Now I call that night dream 'prophetic',
For I had it twice some years ago:
A yard with sunflowers made me hectic,
It looked like a hint on the place to go.

As the lovely picture had no other clue
How to read the dream, I got haunted
Seeing the yard in the daylight too,
Kind of a poster entitled 'Wanted! '.

Dreams come true in the promised land
Sited far to the west of the land forlorn —
A pretty woman lent me a helping hand,
She gave me a chance to be reborn.

All of a sudden, while riding a bike
In the city surrounded by a rimrock,
I saw the yard with sunflowers alike —
Case of the haunting night dream unlocked!
