Sunrise Alone Again Poem by Joseph M Donatelli

Sunrise Alone Again

How many times since I became aware
Have I watched the yellow brightness
Rise from dirt fill the air with white glare
As I long awake awaited that vain stars
Promise that it would appear back here
After lighting the other parts of earth
Giving day equally to every comer place
Where any beings prayed for suns Grace

High above that blinding point of bright
Is a God we can't look directly at with sight
Separates quadrants into day and night
At its height sun gives 12 hours of light
God star measures the length of our lives
Day and night day and night day and night
Life is mesured in minutes not year bites
Much time wasted in illusion life is infinite

Each time eyes are closed to the sunrise
The chance is lost to history to be alive
At the moment today's beginning arrives
Then I walked from lighthouse point right
Back to my summer cottage to the sight
Of my guests just opening their leaden eyes
The sunrise crossed off day part lost 'eh
Make more of the minutes left of the light
