Sweet Liberty - Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Beyond where eagles fail to soar
Beyond the great divide
Awaits Your narrow open door
For me to walk inside

The bible’s true I’ve heard Your voice
For me the battle’s won
I know I’ve made the perfect choice
Believing in Your Son

The One who came and suffered all
Who gave His life for love
That all obedient to His call
Would live and rise above

Beyond the clouds of disbelief
Beyond the here and now
Where aching souls will find relief
According to Your vow

My God I bless this liberty
This faith that floods my soul
This hope one day Your face I’ll see
On rising to my goal

You saw my mind my evil heart
My pride my lust and tears
Still You’ve given a brand new start
And taken all my fears

I thank my God for saving me
Forgiving all my shame
Cleansing my soul of hell’s debris
Through Christ and Heaven’s Flame

Beyond the realms of time and space
And death’s foreboding hand
I’ll rise with joy with love and grace
To Christ and Promised Land
