Swift To Scatter Poem by Denise Garofalo

Swift To Scatter

We meander down the trail,
Following along the edge of the creek,
Hopping from dry rock to dry rock as we go.
We eye a dragonfly as it flits,
And hear the songs of the sparrows.
We pause with giggles here and there,
To search for crawfish in the shallow pools.
Instead, a quick shimmer catches our eyes;
But it's minnows, swift to scatter.
We move on, glancing left to right as we wander.
Wait! A find of flat rocks.
We skip them across the water,
Content to savor what we shared,
A wistful end to a glorious day
Spent underneath the big blue sky.
